Born and raised in the South, with a youth filled with hummingbirds, fireflies, church, family picnics, front porch swings, swimming holes, and lonely late night train whistles.  I have always drawn, but the magical gift of a camera at the age of eight really started it all.  Today, I am rarely without camera or sketchbook nearby.  Sometimes, my ideas never go beyond the sketchbook or computer screen, but other times they lead me on a journey to somewhere new.

In my teens, I began working in graphics with a group of wonderful, free-spirited and talented artists and photographers. I had found my niche in the creative world.  I studied visual arts at Auburn University.  After graduation, I worked in graphic design, illustration and digital media at a large corporation for many years. I continued to study and experiment in photography, digital media and other creative outlets; but each discipline always traveled along separate paths. There would be an occasional crossroad but nothing permanent… until a day in 2001 when I made a new friend, an artist who reconnected me with an old friend, also an artist. They got me to pick up a brush and truly start painting again.  I begin seeking ways to combine all the things I have learned and have such passion for.  My work continues to develop and evolve.

For the past few years I have begun blending techniques together using acrylic, collage and mixed media on wood or paper.  I combine my original photography with painting and attempt to use technology where appropriate, mixing both traditional, digital and alternative processes to explore possibilities.

I am inspired by the things that speak to me - - the environment I’m in, the people I meet and the stories they tell me, found objects, memories and dreams.  Much of my work, especially my photography, contains elements focusing on nature, its solitude, mysteries and of course, beauty.  With my painting and drawing, I am moving toward more conceptually based work with figures and objects I relate to and what they have to say.
